You want a suspension for safety, comfort and performance. Unfortunately, you need a mountain bike to get it. This is, objectively, overkill for most. The Type 57x bridges the gap. Purpose built for commuting, fitness, and leisure, without the complicated geometries of mountain bikes.

Dual purpose – one bike.

The Type 57x technology fills a void: purpose built for every day riding. Setup to work with popular components from companies like SRAM and Shimano, this frame is perfect for dual purpose hybrids and e-bikes.

Suspensions added on to any bike frame are bulky. This is integrated into the frame components so it looks slick and clean.

As an added bonus, it’s just cool to think about your bicycle and motorcycle having the same suspension and frame set up.

How does it work?

The rear suspension is broken into two kinematic components: 1) rearward (lower shocks extend) and 2) forward (upper shocks compress).

This adds a layer of tuneability as the lower shocks can be tuned for large obstacles and the upper for small bump compliance. Less compromise, more seat time.

The history of the frame - it started with a motorcycle.

If you’ve ever been on a motorcycle and hit a hard bump, your back will remind you of the importance of rear suspension. But when you add a bulky suspension onto the frame of a bike you lose that simple, streamlined look that riders love. So you have a choice - do you want comfort or a cleaner looking bike? We said that choice is nonsense and created one frame to offer both: The Type 57x®. this patented frame is the first fully integrated rear wheel suspension system on the market today. Fabbro built and tested a full scale prototype of the Type 57x motorcycle.

so, what does this have to do with bicycles? We’re glad you asked.

MOTORCYCLES AND BICYCLES HAVE THE SAME DNA

AND RIDERS FACE THE SAME PROBLEMS.

While doing customer discovery for the motorcycle frame, we noticed that there are a whole lot of bicycle riders who face a similar pain point with bicycle frames. This makes sense, since the first motorcycle was just a motorized bicycle.

17 million bicycles are sold in the US annually. Looking at the the largest US player in the bicycle market, 77% of bicycles are built on rigid, or hardtail frames, leaving riders with no rear suspension to absorb the impact of the road, much like rigid motorcycle frames.

Let’s say you’re looking to get one bicycle for all your needs: fitness, commuting to the grocery store, back and forth to work, and leisure. You find yourself looking at midrange, hybrid bicycles. With no rear suspension, your back absorbs the impact of every loose stone and sewer you hit while riding. So, your option is to get a bike with a rear suspension, which takes you to the mountain bike models, which are more expensive and meant for going fast in rugged terrain, not to commute to get coffee.

So we decided to build Fabbro’s first Type 57x bicycle to bring these casual riders a bicycle with a rear suspension that is designed for your intended all-purpose use.
